TEHRAN - The commander of the Iranian Border Guard Police stated that one of the ring leaders of the anti-Iran Komala separatist group was killed at the Iran- Iraq border.

Brigadier General Ahmad Ali Goudarzi detailed the circumstances surrounding the killing of Ribwar Karimian, a member of the leadership committee of Komala and a senior military commander of the group, in a recent border clash.

The operation was initiated following reports of the group's intention to cross into Iranian territory and carry out acts of terrorism.

During the encounter, Iranian security forces engaged in a heavy exchange of fire with the Komala team, resulting in the death of Ribwar Karimian, one of the group's ring leaders.

Several other terrorists sustained significant losses and were forced to retreat, leaving behind weapons, ammunition, explosives, and communication equipment.

“One Iranian border guard sustained a minor injury to the abdomen and was transported to Marivan Hospital for treatment,” the Iranian commander stated.

The Komala, also known as the Komala party of separatist Kurdistan is a separatist group founded in 1969 and operated some terrorist acts such as expulsion and assassination in the region.
